Terms of Service
These terms apply to services provided by Sarah Sorts It ("Sarah Sorts It", "we", "us" or "our") to the client ("you" or "your").
By booking or accepting a service from Sarah Sorts It, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. Services and scope
The services provided by Sarah Sorts It will be those agreed with you before the service begins.
Services may include decluttering, organising, sorting, space planning, unpacking, home organisation and related support, depending on the service you have booked.
The agreed service will set out, where relevant, the work to be carried out, the expected duration, location and applicable fees.
Requests for additional work or services outside the agreed scope may incur additional charges. We will discuss any significant additional work and associated costs with you before proceeding where reasonably possible.
Project timings and estimated completion times are not guaranteed and may change depending on the amount of work involved, the condition of the space, the number of items, decisions required and other circumstances.
2. Fees and payment
A deposit of 50% of the agreed project fee is required at the time of booking, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
The remaining 50% is payable once the agreed work has been completed, unless an alternative payment arrangement has been agreed in advance.
For larger projects or projects taking place over an extended period, Sarah Sorts It and the client may agree a different payment schedule. Any agreed payment arrangements will be confirmed in writing.
All fees and payment arrangements will be confirmed before work begins.
Sarah Sorts It reserves the right to pause or decline further work where an agreed payment remains unpaid.
Any third-party costs are separate unless specifically stated otherwise.
Where the client chooses to purchase products or services separately from Sarah Sorts It, including storage products, containers, removal services or other items, these costs remain the client's responsibility.
3. Booking, appointments and access
You are responsible for providing Sarah Sorts It with reasonable access to the property at the agreed appointment time.
You must provide accurate information about the location, parking, access arrangements and any relevant restrictions or requirements that may affect the service.
If Sarah Sorts It is unable to access the property at the agreed time, or is significantly delayed because access has not been provided, the appointment may need to be rescheduled and charges may apply where appropriate.
Where keys, entry codes or other access arrangements are provided, Sarah Sorts It will take reasonable care when using them and will not share them unnecessarily.
4. Cancellation and rescheduling
Sarah Sorts It understands that circumstances can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking, please provide as much notice as reasonably possible.
The 50% deposit is normally non-refundable if you cancel the agreed project.
In particular, where a project is cancelled at short notice, Sarah Sorts It reserves the right to retain the deposit to reflect time that has been reserved for the project and any preparation or other costs already incurred.
However, Sarah Sorts It may, at its discretion, agree to transfer the deposit to a rearranged date or make another reasonable arrangement where there are circumstances that justify doing so.
Any new appointment will be subject to Sarah Sorts It's availability.
If a project is cancelled after work has started, any fees relating to work already completed or costs already incurred will remain payable.
Where you have a legal right to cancel a contract, including any applicable consumer cancellation rights, nothing in these terms is intended to remove or restrict that right.
Where you ask Sarah Sorts It to begin providing a service during a statutory cancellation period, you may be required to pay for services already provided if you subsequently exercise a legal right to cancel, to the extent permitted by law.
Sarah Sorts It may also need to cancel or rearrange an appointment where circumstances outside our reasonable control make it unsafe or impractical to provide the service. Where this happens, we will aim to offer an alternative appointment and will discuss any deposit or payment already made with you.
5. Client responsibilities
You agree to:
provide accurate information about your requirements;
provide reasonable access to the areas where work is to take place;
identify any items, areas or information that should not be handled or accessed;
tell Sarah Sorts It about any relevant risks or restrictions within the property;
make decisions about items that are to be kept, donated, recycled, sold or disposed of;
provide any approvals reasonably required during the service; and
ensure that Sarah Sorts It has a safe working environment.
You remain responsible for your possessions and for decisions about what happens to them.
Sarah Sorts It will not knowingly dispose of, donate, recycle, sell or remove an item without your agreement.
6. Valuables and important items
You should identify valuables, cash, jewellery, important documents, sentimental items, confidential materials and other items requiring special care before work begins.
Where possible, valuable or highly important items should be stored securely and should not be left in areas being sorted unless you specifically want them included in the service.
Sarah Sorts It is not responsible for the loss or damage of items where reasonable care has been taken and the loss or damage could not reasonably have been prevented.
Sarah Sorts It is also not responsible for the loss of items that were already missing, damaged or in poor condition before the service began.
7. Disposal, donation, recycling and removal of items
Sarah Sorts It can help you sort and organise your belongings and identify items that you may wish to keep, donate, recycle, sell or dispose of.
However, Sarah Sorts It does not provide a disposal, recycling, donation, selling or removal service unless specifically agreed with you in writing.
You remain responsible for deciding what happens to unwanted items and for arranging their subsequent disposal, donation, recycling, sale, storage or removal.
Sarah Sorts It will not be responsible for transporting, storing, donating, recycling, selling or disposing of unwanted items unless this has been specifically agreed as part of the service.
Where items are placed into bags, boxes or other containers for donation, recycling, disposal or removal, responsibility for those items remains with you.
You are responsible for ensuring that any items you choose to donate, recycle, sell or dispose of are suitable for that purpose and that you have the right to give them away or dispose of them.
Items that may be hazardous, illegal, contaminated or otherwise unsuitable for handling must be identified to Sarah Sorts It in advance.
Sarah Sorts It reserves the right to refuse to handle or move any item where doing so would be unsafe, unlawful or outside the scope of the service.
8. Safety and condition of the property
You must tell Sarah Sorts It about any known hazards or risks at the property that could affect the work.
Sarah Sorts It may decline or stop work where conditions are considered unsafe.
This may include, for example:
structural problems;
unsafe furniture or shelving;
exposed electrical hazards;
hazardous substances;
infestations;
excessive levels of waste or contamination;
aggressive or uncontrolled animals; or
any other condition that presents a reasonable health or safety concern.
Sarah Sorts It is not responsible for pre-existing damage, defects or problems with the property or its contents.
Sarah Sorts It will take reasonable care when carrying out the agreed work but cannot guarantee that moving or handling items will not reveal existing damage or cause damage to fragile, unstable or poorly maintained items.
9. Pets and other occupants
Please inform Sarah Sorts It in advance if pets or other occupants will be present during the service.
Pets must be kept under reasonable control where necessary to allow Sarah Sorts It to work safely.
Sarah Sorts It may ask for pets to be kept in another room or otherwise secured if there is a safety or practical concern.
10. Third-party services and products
Sarah Sorts It may recommend third-party suppliers, products or services where appropriate.
Where you choose to use a third-party service or purchase a third-party product, you are responsible for the associated costs and for complying with that provider's terms and conditions.
Sarah Sorts It cannot guarantee the performance, availability, pricing, functionality or future availability of third-party services or products.
Where Sarah Sorts It introduces you to a third-party supplier, the contract for that supplier's work will normally be between you and the supplier directly.
11. Photos and use of images
Sarah Sorts It may take photographs during a service where this is useful for recording progress or planning the work.
Photographs will not be used for marketing, on the website or on social media without your permission.
Where you provide photographs to Sarah Sorts It before or during a service, you confirm that you have the right to provide those photographs and give Sarah Sorts It permission to use them for the purpose for which they were provided.
Any marketing use of photographs will require separate permission.
12. Confidentiality
Sarah Sorts It understands that clients may share personal, private or sensitive information during the course of a decluttering or organising service.
We will treat non-public information shared with us as confidential and will only use it where reasonably necessary to provide the agreed service, manage the client relationship or meet legal obligations.
We will not intentionally disclose confidential information about you to third parties unless you ask us to, it is reasonably necessary to provide the service, or we are legally required to do so.
13. Recommendations and results
Sarah Sorts It provides practical decluttering and organising advice based on the information available and the circumstances of your home.
We cannot guarantee a particular result, level of organisation or long-term maintenance of an organised space.
The effectiveness and longevity of an organising system will depend on factors including how the space is used, the number of belongings retained and how the system is maintained after the service.
14. Liability
Sarah Sorts It will provide the services with reasonable care and skill.
We will take reasonable care when handling your possessions and working within your home.
However, to the extent permitted by law, Sarah Sorts It will not be liable for:
indirect or consequential losses;
loss of income or business;
damage or loss resulting from pre-existing defects or conditions;
loss or damage resulting from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you;
loss of or damage to items that were already damaged, fragile or defective;
losses arising from third-party services or suppliers; or
matters outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Subject to the above, our total liability arising directly from the services provided will, to the extent permitted by law, be limited to the total fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
15. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service, please contact Sarah Sorts It as soon as reasonably possible so that we have an opportunity to understand the issue and, where appropriate, put things right.
We will aim to deal with complaints fairly and reasonably.
16. Ending an ongoing service
For ongoing or repeat services, either party may end the arrangement by giving reasonable notice unless a different notice period has been agreed.
Any outstanding fees for services already provided or costs already incurred remain payable.
17. Intellectual property
Any original materials, templates, organising systems, written resources or other materials created by Sarah Sorts It remain the property of Sarah Sorts It unless otherwise agreed.
You may use materials provided to you as part of the service for your own personal or household purposes.
You may not reproduce, resell or commercially distribute Sarah Sort It's materials without written permission.
This does not affect your ownership of your own belongings, information or materials.
18. Changes to these terms
Sarah Sorts It may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to the services, business or legal requirements.
The latest version will be published on this website.
Any changes will not affect services that have already been agreed unless required by law or otherwise agreed with you.
19. Acceptance
Booking a service with Sarah Sorts It confirms that you have had an opportunity to read and accept these Terms of Service.
If there is any conflict between these terms and specific terms agreed with you in writing for a particular service, the specific agreed terms will take precedence for that service.
